Metals Industry Storm Water Group
When it rains, the federal Clean Water Act states that the storm water leaving your property is an industrial discharge. Pollution sources for storm water can include trucks coming/leaving your property, loading bays, parking lots, outdoor storage, materials, material processing, and even your roof.
California’s storm water law encompasses all industry codes, 20xx-39xx, of the metals industry (view Permit Attachment A) .
As a result, metalworking facilities are required to have an industrial storm water permit, file a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), test storm water for pollutants, establish storm water BMPs, and comply with a myriad of reports.
